And Big Welcome
To Molly on Her 1st Christmas
December 18 Steve's walk Sunday 16th DecemberOn Sunday 16th the group braved sub zero temperatures to walk along the southern edge of Kinder Scout, although the walk was shorter in length than usual, this reflected the icy conditions, and short daylight hours. Steve, Colin Helen, Chris and Harvey left Edale station and ascended Ringing Roger, taking in Hartshorn, Grindsbrook, Crowden Tower, the Woolpacks and Noe Stool they arrived back at the cafe for a three thirty brew. We were also delayed slightly by the leaders ability to attract the attentions of most of the National Park rangers on duty, who he knew and hadn't seen in 12 months, and who were aiming at their own rendezvous with mince pies, somewhere on our route. December 13 Werneth Low - Thursday walkTime for another weekday walk - it was a cold but sunny day when 6 of us set off from Geoff & Sue's house at about 10. We walked through Romiley, across the golf course and UP the hill onto Werneth Low - these "old codger" walks are not always flat you know!!
We then walked along the Low to the Cenotaph, admiring the views across Ikea and to Manchester before turning into the shade and along to Windy Harbour for a view across to Kinder. We then walked alongside the road to the Hare and Hounds for a very nice pub lunch. But of course we soon had to leave the cosy warm pub for the return trip to Romiley, encountering a bit of mud en-route. Back down the other side of Werneth Low then to the golf course and back for a nice cup of tea and a gloat about the success of these weekday walks. Look out for notices about more to come next programme.
